Disability Power 100’s Victoria Jenkins creates adaptive collection with Primark

This month, January, Primark will launch more than 40 affordable and stylish wardrobe staples for men and women designed to meet a range of needs. Developed with Disability Power 100 2024’s No.2 and winner of the Visual Arts, Fashion and Design category, Victoria Jenkins, the collection is designed to make dressing simpler, from magnetic zippers and snap fastenings to waist loops that help to pull up trousers and hidden openings for tube, stoma or catheter access. There is also a range of options for people who are seated, such as wheelchair users.

Created to reflect a diverse range of needs, the collection was shaped through a series of focus groups and hands-on fit sessions with members of the disabled community. Alongside Victoria, other members of the Disability Power 100 community were involved, including 2023’s No. 1, Dr Shani Dhanda, Dr Gregory Burke and Accessible.

The range includes a women’s trench coat, poplin shirt, knitted jumper, nightwear and tracksuit with a zipped top. And for men there is an oxford shirt, straight leg jeans and padded gilet. Everything will be available through Click and Collect and in 31 of Primark’s bigger UK stores.

This collection is the culmination of nearly two years of work for Victoria, who has always maintained that for adaptive clothing to be truly accessible it has to be affordable.  To find out more visit the Primark website.
