Airbnb is one of the most recognised brands in the world and since it was founded in 2007, has grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 1.5 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Building on Accessibility Review, our industry-leading approach to confirm the accuracy of accessibility features hosts add to their listings that we launched in 2021, we are now using state-of-the-art technology to reimagine accessible travel like no other platform. Launched in November 2022, the Adapted Category is a collection of 1,100+ unique homes around the world, all featuring verified step-free features and at least one bathroom modification such as a grab bar or shower seat. The category can be accessed in one-click from the Airbnb homepage and has 1,100+ listings around the world, making it easier for guests with disabilities and accessibility needs to find and book unique places to stay that meet their needs.
Accessibility looks different for everyone. We are deeply committed to making travel more accessible and we’ve introduced a number of innovations to improve the travel experience for guests with disabilities and accessibility needs, focused on making it easier for people to find and book homes that are suitable for their unique needs. These innovations are designed to provide guests with accurate information to help them determine if a listing meets their unique needs so they can book with confidence.
Accessibility and disability inclusion are a priority at Airbnb. With over 1 billion people in the world having some form of disability, we’re working to make travel more accessible for everyone.
We continue working to improve accessibility across our platform, including growing the number of homes with accessibility features and continuing to develop educational resources for our hosts to help welcome guests with accessibility needs.
We work with our community of hosts, and guests, and with organisations in the disability community to improve our product and platform, including holding regular Disability Advisory roundtables with a number of national and regional organizations, activists, advocates and leaders in the United States.
