Danielle Brown MBE PLY

She / Her
Children’s Author and Inclusion Champion

Danielle Brown MBE is a double Paralympic gold medallist in archery, winning in Beijing 2008 and retaining her title in London 2012. World number 1 for her entire career, she was also the first disabled athlete to represent England at the Commonwealth Games in an able-bodied discipline, where she won gold in the team event. After retiring from competitive sport, she now works as a professional speaker and diversity and inclusion consultant to help organisations improve their knowledge around disability and women’s empowerment. Giving back is very important to Danielle and she spends a lot of time in schools, teaching success skills to children. She writes non-fiction books that inspire them to raise aspirations and believe in their abilities – and, of course, makes sure that positive disability representation is firmly on the map. Her book Run Like A Girl won the Sunday Times Children’s Sport Book of the Year in 2022.

When inclusion is done properly it makes a huge difference. Sometimes it takes just one person to stand up and advocate, and make sure diverse voices are at the table. We can all be that one person. We can all choose to see ability and support others.
