Politics and Law

I began my journey with activism over three years ago now, it began when I faced inequality accessing healthcare services due to being a young woman and my symptoms were not taken seriously. I began writing articles about my experiences and sharing my story with the hope of helping others feel less alone, if they were going through the same. I then went onto campaign with my local parliament member to see improvements in policies, as an advocate I joined the United Nations as a delegate for the involvement and inclusion of young people with disabilities in decision making.

Since being diagnosed with multiple chronic health conditions, I live in every day pain which has affected my ability to carry out day to day activities, I’ve witnessed exactly how inaccessible the whole of public life is, most recently I’ve been involved in meetings with government officials in creating improved policies for those living with disabilities in Wales.

There’s still so much that needs to be done to truly see a world where everyone is included and safe to be who they want to be. I admire everyone in the disability advocacy space who truly fight for justice and inclusion, we are all working for that change to show no matter our ability we can and we will. I want to see a world where we are all included, being disabled does not mean we are any less deserving of our freedom.

“I’m so honoured to be included in the Disability Power 2023, it’s truly amazing to be a part of this space of incredible disability advocates who are working to create a better and inclusive world for people living with disabilities.”
