Kerry is a multi-award recipient and disability campaigner for accessibility for anyone living with a disability in our wider community. Kerry’s disability and lifestyle blog is popular and actively raises awareness on all platforms for a more accessible and equal world. Kerry is often out and about engaging with people, offering suggestions and real life advice and guidance.
Kerry has been a leading campaigner for the Changing Places campaign to increase the number of facilities around the country. Securing more than 100 in Tesco stores nationwide. Kerry worked for Changing Places UK as a Support Officer, giving guidance and support to local authorities and trusts which have gained a share of government funding. A most recent achievement was the successful opening of a changing places facility at Embleton Park Milton Keynes within her local catchment.
Kerry has engaged with her local MP and councillors to raise issues surrounding a lack of accessible housing. And holds a seat on a number of groups including the Accessible Housing Insight group and Editorial Panel for Habinteg Housing Association, the Ombudsman Housing Panel, and aided with the start up of a very unique group that partners directly with tenants and members of the housing association board (Joint strategic impact group).
Kerry continues to consult with a number of charities and companies that promote diversity and equality. As well as campaigning to improve services and engagement. Kerry acts as an ambassador for Purple Tuesday, AccessAble and the Parks Trust Milton Keynes.
Kerry has appeared on many TV News streams and given radio interviews about her passion for disability and accessibility and often writes for a variety of publications. And proudly Features amongst top 45 trailblazers celebrating mobility is 45th anniversary and those who have paved the way in championing in disability rights in August 23.
Kerry was a finalist at The 2021 National Diversity Awards. Awarded the 2019 Muscular Dystrophy Presidents Award for Campaigner of the Year, BBC Three Counties Radio 2019 People’s Diversity and Equality Award, Recipient of inspirational female and outstanding achievement awards at the 2022 MK inspiration awards and has named on the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 in 2019, 2020, 2022.
Kerry strives to be a positive role model for future generations and is proactive within the disability community. Having been diagnosed as a young woman with muscular dystrophy Kerry continues to pave the way for those with disabilities in hope that the world will one day be more inclusive and adaptable. Kerry’s advice would be “Don’t let the statistical norms of society get in the way of living your life, Your disability can be your superpower”.
