Mark has an impressive track record of seeking to challenge perceptions of disability by using his professional achievements and sphere of influence while living with Cystic Fibrosis to be a role model for disabled people. Mark is a Partner and National Head of the Education team at Browne Jacobson, a leading national law firm.
He personally has over twenty five years’ experience as an education lawyer and he founded and leads Browne Jacobson’s market leading team working with hundreds of education institutions nationally. Mark has long been recommended as a leader in his field in the annual legal directories that identify and rank the most outstanding lawyers throughout the world in Chambers UK he is one of only two lawyers ranked in Band One nationally for schools lawyers and ‘Legal 500 includes him in their ‘Hall of Fame’, which highlights law firm partners who are ‘at the pinnacle of the profession’.
In 2022 Mark was named in The Lawyers Hot 100 which annually identifies 100 legal professionals selected as having met The Lawyers criteria for excellence and relevance and having played a critical role in shaping the legal profession over the past twelve months. Mark also has over twenty years’ experience of serving in governance roles in the education sector, including ten years serving as the Chair of a 25 school multi-academy trust and in 2021 Mark was designated as a National Leader of Governance by the Department for Education.
Mark is also a long standing Trustee of NASEN, which supports and champions those working with and for children and young people with SEND and learning differences. As well as the positive influence Mark creates through his national profile in the legal and education sector, he regularly speaks at events and contributes to media pieces sharing his personal story and insights as a disabled senior leader. In doing this Mark advocates to employers about the value and importance of equality of opportunities for disabled talent and in relation to disabled people he seeks to inspire others to believe that they can achieve their full potential, regardless of disability or impairment.
